High performance fighter. 35░ swept-back wings. Exceptional climb rate. Max speed: 1050 km/h (565 kts). Range: 760 km (409 nm). Ceiing: 15515 m (50890 ft).
One Klimov RD 45 jet engine. The mass produced version of the engine, the VK1, was a copy of the Rolls-Royce Nene engine.
More than 13000 aircraft were produced in the Soviet Union. Another 5000 were produced in Poland, Czechoslovakia and China under licence.
The plane on display was acquired from the Czech Republic in exchange for a Fouga Magister in 1999. The current paint scheme is the Soviet Air Force colour scheme.
