One SNECMA ATAR 9B engine of 4250 kgp /9350 lbs (13200 lbs with afterburner). The plane has the option to fit an additional rocket booster of 1500kgp/3300 lbs thrust.
Max speed: Mach 2.2 (~2250 km/h 1215 kt). Range: 800 km. Ceiling 16500m / 45100 ft. First flight on Sept. 17th, 1956. It was the first French Mach-2 interceptor.
A total of 1800 Mirage III were produced and sold to many countries world wide. The aircraft is one of the large technical and commercial successes of the French military aviation sector.
The last French Mirage III was retired in 1988.
